Quick answers about the ClipyToons studio, credits, photos, publishing, and safety. Every answer has its own link you can share.
Getting started
What ClipyToons is, who it's for, and how the studio works.
What is ClipyToons?
ClipyToons (also known as Toons Kids) is an AI kids video studio for parents, teachers, and creators. You don't get raw clips — you get a finished video:
- Idea or preset → the studio writes a kid-friendly script
- Cast — AI-designed characters, or cartoon characters made from your own photos
- Scenes and shots planned automatically for your target length
- Render with the ClipyToons video engine — characters speak their lines with lip-synced voices, with sound effects and ambience in every shot
- Automatic edit — every shot stitched in story order with smooth transitions, captions burned in
- Publish pack — cover image, titles, descriptions, and hashtags for YouTube, Shorts, Reels, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
No editing software, voice recording, or stock footage needed.
How does ClipyToons work, step by step?
- Sign in and open the Studio.
- Describe your story idea or pick a preset, and choose a length and format (9:16 or 16:9).
- Edit and approve the script, then the cast — AI characters or photo-to-cartoon characters.
- Approve the place: the setting your story happens in. The studio plans scenes and shots for your target length on its own; if you want shot-by-shot control, the optional Advanced view lets you edit, split, merge, or delete shots.
- Render: tap Render video to see the price, then confirm. No plan yet? The monthly plans appear right there, and your video starts as soon as you've paid. Each shot is rendered with lip-synced voices, sound effects, and ambience.
- Automatic edit: the studio stitches the shots in story order with transitions and burns in captions — no editing on your side.
- Download or publish: the finished video appears in your Library, and the Publish tab creates a cover, titles, descriptions, and hashtags for each network.
Planning (script, characters, scenes) is free — only the video render uses credits.
Who is ClipyToons for?
ClipyToons is built for adults who make videos for children: parents making family story videos, teachers making lessons and songs, and creators running kids channels on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook.
Accounts are for adults. Children should not create accounts or use the support chat by themselves.
Is ClipyToons free to use?
Yes, you can start for free. After signing in you can:
- make up to 3 projects (unlimited once you buy a plan)
- write and approve scripts
- create AI characters and plan scenes and shots
- convert up to 6 photos into cartoon characters or scenes
- generate publish-pack text (titles, captions, hashtags)
Rendering the video itself uses studio credits included with a monthly ClipyToons plan. See what's free and what needs credits.
Do I need to edit the video myself?
No — and no editing skills or software are needed. After the shots render, ClipyToons does the edit automatically:
- Every shot stitched in story order — soft dissolves between story scenes, clean cuts between shots inside a scene
- Dialogue kept whole — shots are never cut off mid-word
- Captions burned in (you can switch them off before rendering)
- One finished MP4 in 9:16 or 16:9, plus a cover image
You edit and approve the script, characters, and place before rendering. If you want more control, the optional Advanced view lets you tweak, split, or merge single shots.
Which devices and browsers can I use?
ClipyToons is a web app at clipytoons.com and works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox on computers, tablets, and phones. On a phone you can also take photos with the camera directly from the cast step. A larger screen is more comfortable for reviewing the storyboard.
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
A native app is not available in the App Store or Google Play yet. The full studio works in your phone's browser today, including camera photos for the cast. On iPhone you can use Safari's Share → Add to Home Screen to open ClipyToons like an app.
Credits & pricing
Monthly plans, studio credits, and what's free.
What is a studio credit, and how do credits work?
Studio credits are what you spend to render video. Each monthly plan adds credits every month: Starter 200, Pro Plus 500, and Premium 1,000. Unused credits stay in your balance.
Scripts, characters, and scene planning don't use credits. When your video is finished, the studio shows how many credits it used and how many you have left.
How much does a video cost?
Writing the script, designing characters, and planning scenes are free. Only rendering uses credits from a monthly plan: Starter $19.99/month with 200 credits (videos up to 1:30 min), Pro Plus $49.99/month with 500 credits, and Premium $99.99/month with 1,000 credits. Unused credits stay in your balance.
When you tap Render without a plan, the plans appear right in the studio, and your video starts as soon as you've paid. When it's finished, you see how many credits it used. Every rendered clip is kept: if the automatic quality check spots an issue (for example a character mismatch), the scene shows a note so you can decide whether to re-render it.
Which monthly plans can I choose?
Choose one of three monthly plans in USD:
- Starter — $19.99/month with 200 credits
- Pro Plus — $49.99/month with 500 credits
- Premium — $99.99/month with 1,000 credits
Credits are added after the first successful payment and recharged on the same billing date after each successful monthly renewal. Unused credits remain in your account. Choose a plan on the Pricing page.
Is there a subscription plan?
Yes. ClipyToons offers monthly plans at $19.99, $49.99, and $99.99. Your plan renews on the same billing date each month, and its credits are added only after the payment succeeds.
You can manage or cancel the plan from Manage billing & receipts on Pricing. Credits already in your balance remain available; a cancelled plan simply stops future renewals and monthly recharges.
What's free and what needs credits?
Free for signed-in users
- scripts, AI characters, and scene/shot planning
- up to 6 photo-to-cartoon conversions
- up to 3 projects
Uses credits
- rendering video
Free with every finished film
- YouTube thumbnail, vertical cover, story poster, and square cover
- titles, descriptions, captions, and hashtags for each network
- a subtitles file when the film has spoken lines, and a ZIP of everything
Unlocked with paid access
- unlimited photo-to-cartoon conversions
- unlimited projects
Do credits expire?
Your credits stay in your account balance until you use them; the studio doesn't put an expiry date on them. Monthly renewals add the plan's new credits to any unused balance. For the full conditions, see the Terms of service, or ask a human via Help if you have a specific question.
Do I lose credits if a render fails?
No. When you start a render, its credits are reserved — they leave your available balance so a render can't start without them, but they are charged only when your finished video is ready. If a shot is blocked by the video model's safety filter, the render fails, or you cancel, every reserved credit goes straight back to your balance. Retrying reserves the credits again, and they are charged only if that render finishes your video.
Re-rendering a shot that already finished is a new render: the studio shows its cost and asks you to confirm, and it is charged when the updated video is ready.
Small rounding leftovers are kept as seconds on the project and used for later shots. If something still looks wrong with your balance, open a ticket from Help with the project name.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for subscription payments follow our Terms of service and are handled by a person on our support team. Open a ticket from Help with the email you paid with and the date of purchase.
The chat assistant can't issue refunds, add credits, or change billing.
Can I use a promo or discount code?
There is no public promotion-code program right now. If ClipyToons runs an official offer, the price or instructions will appear directly on Pricing or the secure checkout page — you never need a code from an unofficial source.
Where can I see my credit balance?
Open a project in the Studio: when a video finishes, you see how many credits it used and how many are left on your plan. If you don't have enough credits for a render, nothing is charged and the monthly plans appear right there so you can choose or upgrade a plan.
Creating videos
Ideas, length, formats, language, captions, and editing shots.
How do I start a new video?
Go to the Studio and either describe your idea in a sentence or two ("a shy bunny learns to share at the farm") or pick a preset — a ready-made starting point for bedtime stories, learning songs, adventures, and more. Choose your length and format, then the studio writes a kid-friendly script for you to approve.
How long can my video be?
Pick a target length of 5s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 1 min, 1½ min, 2 min, or 3 min, or set a custom length from 5 seconds — there is no 5-minute limit. Starter makes videos up to 1:30 min; for longer videos, upgrade to Pro Plus or Premium. Stories over 15 minutes are made as a series of episodes. The planner uses native scenes of up to 30 seconds that add up to about that length, and longer videos take longer to render.
Which formats can I make — vertical or landscape?
Every project can be 9:16 (vertical) — for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Stories — or 16:9 (landscape) for classic YouTube videos and Facebook. Choose the format when you set up the project; captions are positioned for that format automatically.
Can I edit a scene or shot before rendering?
Yes. The easiest place to change a scene is the script: edit any line before you approve it. For finer control, switch the storyboard to the optional Advanced view, which shows every planned shot. For each one you can:
- edit the action, dialogue, or narration
- split a long shot or merge it with the next one
- delete a shot you don't need
Editing the plan is free. Once a shot has been rendered, changing it means re-rendering that shot, which uses credits for its length (the studio asks you to confirm first).
Which languages can the characters speak?
Each project has a Dialogue language setting in the studio's export & dialogue settings. English is the default; you can also choose Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, Čeština, Norsk, 日本語, 한국어, 繁體中文 (Mandarin), or العربية. The script, every spoken line, and the captions are in that language.
Set the language before rendering. English gives the most consistent pronunciation today, so please watch the result before publishing — if a shot sounds wrong, you can re-render it.
Can I choose the voices?
There isn't a separate voice picker today. Voices and sound are generated together with each shot by the ClipyToons video engine, guided by the character descriptions and dialogue in your script. To steer a voice, describe the character clearly in your idea (for example "a cheerful little girl" or "a calm grandpa narrator").
Are captions included?
Yes. When the video is assembled, captions are burned in automatically, sized and positioned for 9:16 or 16:9. You can switch Burn-in captions off in the studio's export settings before rendering if you prefer a clean video.
Is background music included?
Yes. Every finished video has a full soundtrack generated together with each shot: character voices and dialogue, sound effects, ambience, and background music, kept under the voices so the dialogue stays clear.
Before you render, the studio's Music menu lets you choose the mood: Auto (matched to your story), Calm / Lullaby, Playful, Adventure, Magical, Heartwarming, or Funny, or No music for voices and sounds only. The music is composed for your film, so specific songs or artists can't be chosen.
Can I use famous cartoon characters or songs?
We recommend original characters and stories — that's what the studio is designed for, and it keeps your channel safe from copyright claims. Only upload photos and images you have the rights to use. See the Content policy for what's allowed.
Characters & photos
AI characters, photo-to-cartoon cast, and photo requirements.
Can I turn a photo into a cartoon character?
Yes. In the cast step, choose photo cast, then upload a photo or take one with your phone camera. ClipyToons turns it into a cartoon character sheet that's reused in every scene, so your hero stays recognizable. You can add up to 5 photo characters per project. You can also use a photo or camera shot as the starting point for a scene.
Free accounts include 6 photo conversions; they're unlimited with paid access.
Can I use my child's photo safely?
Yes, as long as you are the parent or guardian (or have their permission). How we handle it:
- the photo is stored in your private project on ClipyToons servers and used only to generate your videos
- it is not shown to other users; any staff access to user media is audit-logged
- you can delete your projects or your whole account anytime yourself from Account & privacy, or ask us via Help
Please never share a child's name, age, school, or photos in the support chat. See the Privacy summary for details.
Which photo formats and sizes can I upload?
Upload JPEG, PNG, or WebP images up to 8 MB. For the best cartoon likeness:
- one person per photo, face clearly visible and facing the camera
- good, even lighting — no heavy filters or sunglasses
- the face not too small in the frame
If an upload is rejected, check the file type and size first.
How many photo conversions are free?
Free accounts include 6 photo-to-cartoon conversions (character sheets and scene cartoons both count). With paid access, photo conversions are unlimited. You can also keep going for free with auto-generated AI characters, which don't count toward the limit.
Will my character look the same in every scene?
Yes. Each character gets a character sheet (appearance, outfit, colors) that's reused as a reference in every shot, so your hero stays recognizable from start to finish — whether it was designed by AI or made from your photo.
Rendering & quality
Render time, resolution, sound, cancelling, and re-rendering.
How long does rendering take?
Shots are rendered one after another, so time grows with length. Typical estimates:
- 30 seconds → about 8 minutes
- 1 minute → about 15 minutes
- 3 minutes → about 40 minutes
The studio shows an estimate before you start and live progress per shot while it renders. Rendering runs on our servers, so you can leave the page and come back to the project later from the Studio or Library.
What resolution are the videos?
You can render in 480p (the default — fastest) or 720p (sharper). Pick 720p when a crisper picture is worth it, for example on a big screen.
Does the video come with sound and voices?
Yes — the video comes out with a full soundtrack, not silent clips. Each shot is rendered by the ClipyToons video engine with its audio generated together with the picture:
- Voices and dialogue — characters speak their script lines, lip-synced, in the project's dialogue language; narration is voiced too
- Sound effects and ambience that match the action and the setting
The automatic edit keeps sound and picture in sync, never cuts a line off mid-word, and burns in captions. Background music is composed with each shot too — see Is background music included?
Can I stop a render that's in progress?
Yes. Press Cancel in the studio: the shot currently rendering finishes, queued shots are stopped, and every completed shot is kept. Nothing is charged for a cancelled render — the reserved credits go back to your balance. When you resume, the credits are reserved again and charged only when your finished video is ready.
Can I re-render a shot I don't like?
Yes. Open the shot in the studio and choose to re-render it. Because a finished shot is a new render, it uses credits for that shot's length — the studio shows the cost and asks you to confirm first.
A shot that failed never costs anything: credits are only charged when your finished video is ready. See Do I lose credits if a render fails?
Publishing & sharing
Downloads, publish packs, and posting to YouTube, TikTok, and more.
Is the video ready to publish?
Yes. A render ends with a finished, publish-ready video, not a folder of clips:
- One MP4 in 9:16 (Shorts, Reels, TikTok) or 16:9 (YouTube, Facebook), at up to 720p
- Talking characters with lip-synced voices, plus sound effects and ambience
- Automatically edited — shots stitched in story order with smooth transitions
- Captions burned in (optional)
- A publish pack — cover and thumbnails, plus titles, descriptions, and hashtags for each network
Download it from your Library and post it, or upload straight to YouTube from the Publish tab when that option is shown. As with any kids content, watch it once before posting.
How do I download my finished video?
Finished videos appear in your Library — use Download to save the MP4 (captions included if you left them on). You can also download it, together with the publish-pack files as a ZIP, from the project's Publish tab in the studio.
What is the publish pack?
The Publish pack saves you writing time for every network. For your video it creates:
- YouTube title, description, and tags; Shorts hook caption
- TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook captions with hashtags
- Thumbnails and covers — YouTube thumbnail, vertical cover, story poster, and square cover, drawn with your characters
- Subtitles file (captions.srt) when the film has spoken lines
All of it is free with every finished film — no extra credits. Everything can be downloaded as one ZIP.
Can I monetize my ClipyToons videos on YouTube?
Yes — you can publish the videos you make in ClipyToons on your own YouTube channel and other platforms, and every render comes with a publish pack to help you post. Ad earnings come through each platform's program — on YouTube that's the Partner Program, with its "made for kids" settings, originality requirements, and AI-content disclosure. Those rules reward original, varied stories, which is exactly what custom characters and fresh ideas in ClipyToons give you. Our YouTube monetization guide walks through the details; see also the Terms of service, and open a ticket from Help for specific commercial-use questions.
Safety & privacy
Kid-safety checks, children's photos, and your data.
How does ClipyToons keep content kid-safe?
Kid-safety checks run before anything is rendered. Every idea, script, and shot prompt is checked, and themes like violence, horror, sexual content, drugs or alcohol, hate, bullying, or self-harm are blocked. Blocked attempts are reviewed by our team. The studio is designed for gentle bedtime stories, learning songs, kindness, and silly adventures.
AI output can still surprise you, so always watch your video before publishing. See the Content policy.
Where are my photos and videos stored?
Your projects — photos, characters, and rendered videos — are stored on ClipyToons servers so you can come back to them in your Library. They're used only to generate and deliver your videos. Sign-in is handled by our account provider and payments by Stripe; we don't store your card details.
To have photos, projects, or your account removed, see How do I delete my data?
How do I delete my data or my account?
You can do it yourself on the Account & privacy page (profile menu, top right → Account & privacy):
- Download my data — a zip with your profile, credit history, projects, support tickets and chat history, plus links to every photo and video
- Delete my account & data — type the confirmation phrase and we permanently delete your projects, videos, uploaded photos, characters, support tickets and chat history, and close your sign-in
Good to know:
- deletion can't be undone and unused credits are lost, so download anything you want to keep first
- payment records are kept in anonymized form because bookkeeping law requires it
- if a render is running, cancel it first
Want only a specific photo or project removed instead? Open a ticket from Help and tell us which one. The chat assistant can't delete data itself.
Is the support chat private? What shouldn't I share?
The support chat is for adults. Please don't type a child's name, age, school, or photos into it. Conversations may be stored so our team can review quality and safety, and so a human can pick up where the assistant left off when you choose Talk to a real person.
Account & billing
Payments, receipts, and credits after purchase.
How do I pay? Which payment methods are accepted?
Pick a monthly plan on Pricing and complete the recurring Stripe checkout, priced in USD. Major cards are accepted; any other options available to you are shown on the checkout page. ClipyToons never sees or stores your full card number.
Where can I find my receipts or invoices?
I paid but my credits aren't showing. What should I do?
Credits are added automatically as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within a minute. Refresh the Studio to see the new balance. Make sure you're signed in with the same account you used at checkout.
Still missing after a few minutes? Open a ticket from Help with the email you paid with and the approximate time — the chat assistant can't add credits itself.
Troubleshooting
Failed renders, blocked ideas, and how to reach a human.
Why did my render fail?
The most common reasons are:
- a safety check blocked a shot's content — rephrase that shot and retry
- a temporary capacity problem in the ClipyToons video engine — waiting a few minutes and retrying usually fixes it
- a shot's description was too complex — simplifying or splitting it helps
Open the project in the Studio: the failed shot shows a message explaining what happened. A failed render costs nothing — the reserved credits are back on your balance, and credits are only charged when your finished video is ready. If it keeps failing, open a ticket from Help with the project name and the error message.
How do I retry a failed shot?
Open the project in the Studio, find the shot marked as failed, and press Retry. The other unfinished shots render in the same run, so the film can finish. The studio shows the credits it will reserve; they are charged only when your finished video is ready and go back to your balance if it isn't. If the shot was blocked by the safety filter, edit its text before retrying.
It says I don't have enough credits. What now?
The studio checks your balance before starting: if the render needs more credits than you have, nothing is charged and the render doesn't start. You can:
- choose or upgrade a monthly plan and start the render again
- choose a shorter length or delete shots you don't need to lower the cost
Your script, characters, and scenes are saved in the meantime.
My idea was blocked by the safety check. Why?
The kid-safety check blocks themes like violence, weapons, horror, sexual content, drugs or alcohol, hate, bullying, and self-harm — even when they appear in an innocent context. Try rephrasing the idea more gently (for example "a pretend pirate treasure hunt" instead of mentioning swords or fighting).
If you think the block was a mistake, open a ticket from Help and our team will review it. See the Content policy.
The characters spoke the wrong language. How do I fix it?
First check the project's Dialogue language in the studio's export & dialogue settings — it's English by default. Set the right language, then re-render the affected shots (re-rendering a finished shot uses credits for its length). If the setting was already correct and the audio still came out in another language, open a ticket from Help with the project name so our team can review it.
How do I contact a human?
Two ways to reach our team:
- tap Talk to a real person in the chat bubble, leave your email and a short message — your conversation goes straight to our team (no account needed)
- signed in? open a ticket from the Help page
We reply by email, usually within one business day. For render problems, include the project name and the error message shown in the studio.
